Zalando launches AI fashion assistant
Fashion platform Zalando is going to launch a fashion assistant powered by ChatGPT on the website and app. It will start with a beta version, which will be available to selected customers in Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Austria by Spring.
Zalando has recently made some changes to its platform. In February, it increased its rates for merchants and last month it announced that it would delist brands. Now, it has announced a future launch of an AI fashion assistant.
The new fashion assistant will help customers navigate the online marketplace’s assortment using their own words or fashion terms. The company expects that this will make the customer journey more intuitive and natural.
Customers can ask the assistant questions like: “what should I wear for a wedding in Santorini in July”, and the AI will understand that it is a formal event, what the weather is in Santorini in July. It will answer with a written explanation, which includes recommendations for clothing. In the future, the platform wants to combine it with customer preferences, such as brands and products available in their sizes.
The company will first launch a beta version with support in English and German. A selected group of customers will be able to use it by Spring, in Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Austria.
