According to the analysis, the weather was several degrees colder and drier than usual for this time of year for most of this year, which was not conducive to the development of plants. On Wednesday, however, wetter and warmer air arrived in the Carpathian Basin and larger showers also developed. The moisture content of the soil near the surface layer improved in the south, southwest and northeast, while the middle and deeper layers were more dry. A significant part of the Great Plain is still experiencing a moderate or severe drought, with only 5-10 millimeters of precipitation in the central parts of the Great Plain in the past 30 days. The temperature in recent days has also been 3-5 degrees Celsius below the multi-year average. Until Tuesday, maximums below 20 degrees Celsius were typical, then warming began with the flow turning to the southwest, so the temperature has already risen above 20 degrees in several places.

The autumn sowings are in good condition in the slightly more rainy areas

The rapeseed is slowly blooming, and the wheat is in ear, but in the parts of the Great Plain with a lack of rainfall, their condition is weaker and the cool period, which has been going on for three weeks, is not conducive to their development. The soil moisture content is acceptable for the development of corn and sunflower in the more rainy areas, but in the central parts of the Great Plain, the situation is critical, the upper soil layer is bone dry. Although corn and sunflower have also sprouted, the plants are suffering greatly, in addition to the drought, the cold is also taking its toll on the crops.

In the orchards, protection against frost damage was still needed last week

The morning temperature was critically low several times in the Great Plain and the northern part of the country. In the past week, conditions were favorable for the development of fungal diseases in the northern and southern regions. According to the forecast, the weather will remain changeable in the coming days with heavy rain in many places. The temperature will drop, with maximums only around 15 degrees on a cloudy, rainy Friday, then from Saturday in the already sunnier weather, the peak values will be around 20 degrees, and slightly above this next week.
