Agrometeorology: nature is not much ahead of its time

According to the summary published on the website, the changeable weather typical of the end of February continued in the past week. The temperature in the northeast was around the usual values, in the rest of the country it was 1-2 degrees above the long-term average.
Precipitation was less than usual, the deficit being smaller in the southern regions
The soil near the surface is dry in many places in the northern two-thirds of the country. The middle and deeper layers in the north also have a good water supply, while in the south the upper 1-meter soil layer is almost saturated and the water is standing in several places in the fields. They added: the autumn crops are typically in good condition, but with the exception of the southern and southwestern areas of the country, more and more rain is expected. .
The orchards began to develop
They pointed out that there were ten short days in the first half of February, when the pathogens were somewhat reduced during the frosty nights and the frost restrained the too early development of the plants. In the middle of the month, however, the vegetation began to develop, already in the north-eastern part of the country, catfish, apricots, peaches and pears are blooming. In the south and southwest, the process is even more advanced, and the almonds have started blooming.
Early spring weather is still expected
A series of weather fronts are coming in and 2 to 15 millimeters of rain is likely over the next week. The temperature will be around 15 to 20 degrees on Friday, then it will drop several degrees on Saturday due to a cold front, and maximums below 10 degrees will be typical on the weekend. The sub-freezing dawns will return on Sunday and Monday, then warm up again on Monday. The wind will increase to gusty in a large area on Saturday, and after the temporary moderation on Sunday, it will be strong in many places on Monday.
