Ministry of Agriculture: Grape and fruit producers who suffered severe spring frost damage will receive extraordinary assistance
The spring frost, which came in several waves this year, caused severe damage to grape and fruit plantations across the country. The Ministry of Agriculture, based on the consultation with the sectoral inter-professional organization, has created the opportunity to pay part of the damage mitigation benefit in advance. The advance payment is 100 thousand forints per damaged hectare – the ministry announced in its statement on Wednesday.

The advance payment application can be submitted from Wednesday until July 31, electronically, on the Hungarian State Treasury’s dedicated interface. It is not necessary to attach the decision of the agricultural damage assessment body, i.e. the county government office, to the application. According to the information, the agricultural damage mitigation body will make a decision on the advance payment application by August 25, 2025 at the latest, after which the awarded amount will be disbursed to the producer within 5 days. The amount of the advance is included in the damage mitigation benefit that can be claimed after the 2025 damage mitigation year, so it is important that those who wish to take advantage of the early payment option pay the damage mitigation contribution by the deadline and submit the application for the benefit – the ministry warned. Producers who suffered spring frost damage will receive the remaining part of the awarded amount in the usual procedure, in March 2026.
