The Ministry of Agriculture (MA) has made the first support decisions in the tender aimed at the renewal of livestock farms: in the first round, 209 investments will receive support, worth a total of more than 10 billion forints. The current decision is an important milestone in the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan until 2027, one of the priority goals of which is to improve the competitiveness of the domestic livestock sector – the MA told MTI on Friday.

The Ministry of Agriculture also published two calls for proposals in 2024 to support the development of livestock farms. The aim of the tenders is to facilitate the construction of new buildings and modern technologies, the purchase of machinery and equipment necessary for livestock farming, and the implementation of related energy developments. The tenders also provide support for special purposes, such as epidemic control developments or investments to reduce ammonia emissions, they said.

Agricultural producers who met the conditions regarding farm size and sales revenue could apply for the support

The fund’s support intensity is 50 percent, but in the case of developments utilizing renewable energy – such as the installation of solar panels – or epidemic control investments, this ratio can increase to 70 percent, and in the case of investments to reduce ammonia, it can increase to 80 percent – they said. According to the information, the tender entitled “Support for the renewal of livestock farms”, which provides a smaller-scale support of up to 200 million forints, received 1,419 applications with a request for support of 95 billion forints. By reallocating the resources of the CAP Strategic Plan, the Ministry of Agriculture can support the development of domestic livestock farms to the greatest extent possible, in addition to the original 50 billion forints application budget. In addition to non-refundable subsidies, the Ministry also supports the implementation of projects by drawing down advance payments, interest subsidies and guarantee fee subsidies. The 209 projects currently receiving support represent the first phase, the assessment of applications will continue as scheduled, and the decision-making on support will continue in the coming weeks – the Ministry announced.
