The “Developing Countryside” campaign, which made the process of transformation of the Hungarian countryside, the investments strengthening communities and the developments pointing to the future better known through various communication channels, has ended – the Agrármarketing Centrum (AMC) informed MTI in a statement about the program closing held on Friday at the 82nd OMÉK.

The campaign, which presents the results of the Rural Development Program (RP) implemented between 2014 and 2022, has provided information to millions of people on various media platforms about the process of renewal of the Hungarian countryside. The online campaign with a unified visual and content identity appeared on social media platforms between June 18 and September 21.

In its statement, AMC summarizes: the Rural Development Program was implemented as the second pillar of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), co-financed by the European Union and the Hungarian government

The program had more than 2,942 billion forints of EU and Hungarian funds available, of which nearly 400,000 applications received support. The majority of the funds were directed towards investments (63 percent) and area-based subsidies (33 percent), while the remaining 4 percent served other development of rural areas. As a result of the Rural Development Program, modern greenhouses and orchards were created, local markets were renewed, more than 1,000 kilometers of rural roads were built or modernized, and precision farming began to gain ground, which also contributes to sustainability and competitiveness – they explained. The statement quotes József Viski, the State Secretary responsible for agricultural and rural development subsidies at the Ministry of Agriculture, who pointed out that the Rural Development Program was not just a support system, but a set of future-oriented investments that fundamentally contributed to the livability and development of the Hungarian countryside. He emphasized that, given the strategic importance of the sector, the government will ensure the highest possible co-financing of EU agricultural subsidies, at 80 percent, for both the 2021-2022 transitional years and the current 2023-2027 EU budget cycle, which will enable the largest agricultural and food industry development program since the change of regime.
