Chamber of Agriculture: Hungary is one of the most important game meat exporters in Europe
Hungary is one of the most important game meat exporters in Europe, according to a publication presenting the domestic market and consumption of game meat, published by the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy (NAK).
Almost 90 percent of the 3,800 tons of products processed in Hungary every year go abroad, mainly to Germany and Italy – they justified the preparation of the publication, which the announcement also mentions as a unique compilation at the European level.
In Hungary, 46 enterprises deal with venison, which is a valuable and special food, despite this, the consumption is only 0.1 kilogram per person, and it was only twice as much 10 years ago – wrote the NAK. Domestically, tourism and hospitality (HORECA) is the largest recipient, receiving 60 percent of the amount remaining in Hungary. The coronavirus took a toll on the market, but consumption had already reached its pre-epidemic level before last year, they added.
