Chamber of Agriculture: significant yield loss can occur in case of corn
This year corn was cultivated on a record-size area on 1.262 million hectares in Hungary, and in early June, the experts expected a good harvest. According to the report of the crop production department of the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture in the past period drought irreversibly damaged the plant in several places, significantly worsened the crop outlooks.
Last year, 8.06 million tons of corn was harvested on 1,216 hectares. The average yield was 6.63 tons per hectare. Compared to the previous year, the average yield decreased slightly, but the area has grown with 180 hectares, and the total harvested yield increased by 1.1 million tonnes. (MTI)
