Chamber of Agriculture: the risk of infection in orchards has increased
The frost did not affect the apple orchards significantly in recent weeks, rather the threat of infection to the orchards increased due to the rainy weather – read the plant protection summary published on the website of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) on Monday.
The apple blossoms are abundant, although it will only become clear later whether the cold has somewhat damaged the fruit beginnings. The first symptoms of infection due to constant moisture are appearing on the trees recently, but since the flowering is also in full swing, special attention should be paid to the bees when applying pesticides. Plant protection products that are moderately dangerous for them can only be used to a limited extent in this case. Although the weather in the past period often did not develop according to the calculations, it is still worth watching the forecasts, because plant protection tasks largely depend on them, they added. According to the summary, the environmental conditions will probably continue to favor the infection, because the rainy weather will not end in the next few days, and it will also get warmer. The danger also threatens other fruit trees, the present is also a critical period for peaches, cherries and cherries, they wrote.
