Chamber of Agriculture: the growing area of vegetables can reach 2000 hectares
According to the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK), domestic carrot production can develop considerably. The growing area of vegetables can reach 1800 to 2000 hectares.
In a statement sent to MTI on Monday, the Chamber emphasized that carrots are grown in Hungary on about 1250 hectares currently.
Thanks to technological advances, over the past 25 years, carrot yields have doubled. With the use of modern technology yields already reaching 80 tonnes per hectare at irrigated areas, so the total production in the country could reach up to 100,000 tonnes – the chamber says. (MTI)
