Winemakers are also worried about the drought and inflation
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the estimates for the low grape harvest and the grape price forecasts awaiting approval by the wine regions justify significantly higher grape prices than last year. According to the winemaker interviewed by InfoRádió, the price of bottled wines and grapes will also rise.
They are expecting a dry harvest at the Pannon Bormíves Céh – began winemaker István Jásdi, president of the winemaking association. According to their estimates, the grape harvest will be about 30 percent less, but they are still optimistic about the quality. “Another rain would have been nice, but we were also worried last year, but in the end, the 2021 vintage turned out to be of excellent quality,” he noted.
There are no complaints about the sunshine, so presumably the sugar level will be fine, the specialist agreed, but there could be a problem with the content of the grape seeds.
