African swine fever: another 13,000 animals in Romania to be killed to prevent the spread of infection
The Romanian Animal Health and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) decided to kill nearly 13,000 more pigs on Friday after the African swine fever (ASP) virus was detected on a farm in farms in Arges and Olt County – the Mediafax news agency reported.
The owners of the pig farms concerned will receive compensation.
According to the latest ANSVSA summary released Wednesday, 524,590 pigs have been killed in Romania since the ASP was released. (Baranyi László, MTI)
