The Joy of Giving! – SPAR stores collect non-perishable food for people in need
The Hungarian Maltese Charity Service and SPAR Hungary have launched a personal fundraising campaign today. As part of the 2024 Joy of Giving! initiative, more than 3,000 volunteers will receive donations from customers in stores, and the employees of the Charity Service will deliver the non-perishable food collected in this way to people in need before the holiday.
“This year, we launched the 28th Joy of Giving! fundraising campaign together with our strategic partner, the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service. With this special collaboration, we can provide a helping hand to tens of thousands of people in need every year when and where they need help the most. The motto of our collection this year is: “Christmas reaches everyone this year! Together, a little attention goes a long way, because Joy of Giving!” In the coming days, our customers will be able to meet many volunteers in our stores. Please, if you can, support the initiative by thinking of our needy fellow human beings by purchasing non-perishable food,” said Márk Maczelka, Head of Communications at SPAR Hungary.
“The Joy of Giving! is the largest fundraising campaign of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service, in which more than 3,000 of our volunteers participate. The personal fundraising would not be successful without them, who are there every year before the holidays in designated SPAR and INTERSPAR stores and accept donations from customers, or prepare the packages in the warehouses, and many of them personally deliver them to people in need. Together with them, we can deliver the packages to where they are needed most before the holidays. We work in the most disadvantaged areas of the country, where non-perishable food – such as pasta, canned goods, cooking oil, sugar, and small sweets – is a huge help,”
said Tamás Romhányi, communications manager of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service.
