Zwack welcomes the wide-scale launch of Unicum Orange Bitter with a Mediterranean-inspired commercial
Starting this April, Zwack Unicum’s new drink, Unicum Orange Bitter, will be available on the shelves of retail food chains. Zwack has created a spectacular commercial for the wide-scale introduction of the unique, orange herbal liqueur, which will debut in Hungary in April.
Unicum Orange Bitter: a combination of Mediterranean freshness and Italian traditions
Unicum Orange Bitter is a true Mediterranean drink specialty, based on the iconic classic Unicum, aged in oak barrels and made from more than 40 herbs, and complemented by a distillate and extract made from carefully selected orange peels. The essence of the distillate is provided by the Sicilian Sanguinello blood orange, also known as the blood of Etna.
The golden lands of Tuscany and the Zwack family’s close ties to Italy, especially the town of Bolgheri, inspired Orange Bitter, which is recommended to be consumed in true aperitivo style, poured over two ice cubes and with a fresh orange slice, in accordance with local tradition.

To launch Unicum Orange Bitter on a large scale, Zwack Unicum produced a special commercial, which was filmed abroad for the first time in the company’s history, in the magical landscapes of Italy.
In the commercial, Zwack Unicum evokes the Mediterranean feel that inspired the drink’s birth in a truly authentic environment. The video, directed by the Italian advertising agency Libera, strived for this with all its elements: the commercial features local characters, characteristic Italian melodies and iconic Tuscan landscapes, as well as Bolgheri – the hometown of Izabella and Sándor Zwack.
The Zwack family also actively participated in the two-day shoot, paying great attention to every little detail. In addition to the magical landscapes of Italy, the film also featured their café, Caffé Della Posta, where the original ritual of making Unicum Orange Bitter was demonstrated. This experience can still be experienced today by all those who visit the café – and if they are lucky, they may even meet Izabella Zwack or Sándor Zwack in person.
The impressively visual advertising spot can now be viewed on domestic television channels and online platforms.
