Shrinkage inflation affects more and more products
Shrinkage inflation continued in January 2025, with more food and toiletries now available in smaller packages in stores, Portfolio reports.
The paper reminds us that the change affects all pre-packaged products that were sold between January 1, 2020 and July 1, 2023 and that customers can find in stores with sales exceeding one billion forints. The government has also made it mandatory to inform customers about the shrinkage in stores. There is only one way out of this if the store sells the previous version in addition to the smaller package for at least 6 months.
These products are affected:
Milka chocolates: Several versions have been reduced from 100 g to 90 g.
ALDI cheese: Milsani Tilsiter cheese has become 350 g instead of 400 g.
- TRESemmé heat protection spray: 270 ml instead of 300 ml.
- Gillette Venus razor blades: 3 instead of 4.
- PENNY chili con carne: 400 g instead of 800 g.
- PENNY tortilla chips: 150 g instead of 300 g.
According to PENNY, the larger packaging has already been discontinued, and the new products will arrive in stores in February-March.
