Wolt’s financing program offered 1 million euros in loans domestically in six months
Since its launch in August last year, Wolt’s merchant partners have received a total of 1 million euros in loans from the company’s financing program – the company operating the food delivery platform told MTI on Tuesday.
The Wolt Capital program provides flexible, quickly accessible financing options with transparent conditions so that applicants can follow changes in demand and market conditions – they justified the introduction of the loan option in Hungary.
Added:
As a technology company, Wolt considers it important to provide its customers with not only a digital commerce platform, but also a financial instrument, because this can also support them in sustainable development and maintaining competitiveness.
According to their announcement, the milestone amount proves that the financing program has found the needs of the partners and also indicates the lender’s long-term commitment to Hungary.
In response to a question from MTI, they stated that almost 200 people had used the financing in half a year. 97 percent of Wolt partners in Hungary are small and medium-sized enterprises, and the conditions were therefore adapted to their needs. The loan can be used freely, the repayment depends on their Wolton turnover, and they have a maximum of 12 months to repay it – they were informed.
They reported that the businesses mostly used Wolt Capital’s funds to purchase assets, cover marketing and operating costs, which were mediated by their lending infrastructure service partner, finmid. Several people have now repaid the loan, and some have already applied for another one.
According to the statement, Wolt is a Helsinki-based technology company that develops a local commerce platform that connects people who want to order food, groceries and other goods with local sellers and couriers.
Founded in 2014, Wolt joined forces with DoorDash in 2022. The companies operate in 34 countries together.
According to the presentation published on the company website, Wolt appeared in Central Europe in 2018 after the Scandinavian and Baltic countries, and 5 years later they were operating with almost 10 thousand employees worldwide. The turnover of their Hungarian company reached 30 billion forints in 2024, and the profit was 48 million forints – according to the public company report.
