Wizz Air will take care of passengers stranded in Dubai at its own expense
Wizz Air is taking care of the passengers stranded in Dubai at its own expense and is cooperating with the authorities in everything, Wizz Air Hungary told MTI on Tuesday, responding to the proceedings of the Budapest Metropolitan Government Office.
An investigation was launched against the airline after dozens of Hungarian passengers were left without care in the Middle East due to the cancellation of Monday’s Dubai-Budapest flight.
According to a statement from Wizz Air, all airlines and airports in the region were affected by the tense situation, which led to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates closing their airspace. At that time, passenger check-in had already begun, and several had to be escorted out of the terminal.
They added that everyone was notified of the flight cancellation and then hotel rooms were booked for them at their own expense. The airline is now assessing how many people want to get home on other flights, the cost of which will also be paid by Wizz Air. Their customer service will contact those affected by phone and email with the details, the announcement reads.
