Weerts Logistics Park handed over one of Hungary’s largest sustainable industrial investments in Vecsés
On October 17, 2024, Weerts Logistics Park (WLP), which has a Belgian-Hungarian ownership background, officially handed over its newest, nearly 40,000 m² environmentally conscious smart hall in Vecsés to one of the world’s largest auto parts suppliers, the Canadian Magna International Inc. (Magna). The project, which is considered one of Hungary’s largest industrial investments, is a significant milestone in terms of the industrial development of the region. The modern and sustainable production hall built in Vecsés is exemplary not only in its technological level, but also in its environmentally conscious solutions. WLP has once again proven its ability to deliver customized, complex industrial facilities ahead of schedule, while keeping the interests of the local community and sustainability in mind. By handing over the hall, WLP successfully fulfilled its obligations, thus supporting the development of Magna, whose next milestone will be the expected start of component production for the target market at the end of 2025.
Sustainable factory construction for a green future
The construction of the factory was carried out by WLP in strict compliance with the strictest environmental protection regulations, paying particular attention to the interests of the local community and sustainability. The building aimed for the prestigious BREEAM Excellent rating, which recognizes outstanding sustainability solutions such as rainwater recycling and the use of energy-efficient systems. The waste heat from the facility’s machines is integrated into the heating system, while the solar panel system is being installed on the entire surface of the roof, thus ensuring a full supply of green energy for the operation. With continuous environmental protection monitoring, WLP checks that the operation of the plant does not cause environmental damage.
High-quality production environment and employee comfort in the new factory
WLP’s investment in Vecsés, known for the construction of high-tech Big Box warehouses throughout Europe, is a modern industrial facility equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, which is divided into several units to efficiently support production processes. The lowbay sector has a floor area of nearly 26,000 m² and is 14.5 m high, the highbay sector has an area of 9,220 m² and is 20 m high. The office department provides workplaces for hundreds of employees with open spaces and quiet rooms.
The cooperation between WLP and Magna dates back to earlier times, as they already worked together successfully in Hanover in November 2023, where they implemented the construction of a hall with a floor area of 15,000 m² and a height of 18 meters. The facility developed by WLP provides its customers with the most modern environment with its automated systems and modern technologies.
