Waberer’s supplied one of the most unique light installations of the Zsolnay Light Festival
When a light installation arrives from over a thousand kilometers to amaze visitors, there is often invisible, precise and coordinated work going on in the background: logistics. After two years, Waberer’s once again partnered with the Zsolnay Light Festival and ensured that Encor Studio’s “ALCOVE” light installation arrived from Switzerland to Pécs on time, intact and safe, contributing to one of the most exciting cultural events in the region. However, this was not the only special logistical task that Hungary’s number one complex logistics service provider has completed in recent years.
The ALCOVE artwork is a light box made from a 20-foot recycled shipping container that engages the viewer through light, reflection and transparency. Visitors are positioned at different points in the space, where alternating layers of liquid crystal films reveal or hide details, separating and then reconnecting them. With the play of lights, the installation simultaneously divides and connects, so that the audience ultimately becomes part of the work from the inside through their own reflection. This unique spatial experience is a curiosity in the history of the festival, not only technically but also in its experiential nature.
“The Zsolnay Light Festival has always been about providing not only a spectacle, but also an experience. For this, a reliable and precise background is essential. With the help of Waberer’s, the ALCOVE installation truly arrived to us as it is written in the big book. Everything happened at the right time and point when it was supposed to happen. A professional partner is essential for this,”
– said Ákos Keresztény, the technical director of the festival.
Delivering the artwork to its destination was just one episode among the special transport orders that Waberer’s has completed in recent years, requiring great precision. In the recent period, the group of companies has ensured the international movement or coordination of works of art, sports equipment, high-tech devices and other unique assets over more than 20,000 kilometers, both within and outside the borders of Europe.
