Waberer’s will continue its fleet renewal program, which has been consistently built for several years, in 2026, and as a result of this year’s vehicle tenders, the company will replace 925 vehicles in the international road fleet and in the Hungarian logistics segment. The replacement program represents an investment worth approximately 57 million euros, Waberer’s Group told MTI on Thursday.

According to the announcement, Waberer’s will implement the fleet renewal on an annual basis, in predictable cycles. The average age of the vehicle fleet operating in international traffic is a little over 3 years at the end of 2025, which is expected to decrease again to an average age of 2 years after the replacements in 2026. In parallel, the average age of the international trailer fleet will also decrease further by the end of 2026.

The first new vehicles of the replacement program are expected to enter the system at the beginning of May, and the last ones at the beginning of November. The company plans to schedule the replacements on a weekly basis, while ensuring continuity of operations.

– they announced.

They announced that the rejuvenation of the vehicle fleet reduced the number of breakdowns by 39.15 percent between 2022 and 2024, while the related rescue costs decreased by 42.56 percent, from 1.35 million euros to 776 thousand euros. According to European manufacturers, trucks equipped with modern Euro 6 environmental class engines result in up to 10-15 percent lower fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions compared to previous generation models.

The fleet renewal does not stop at the road segment. From autumn 2026, the railway logistics subsidiary of Waberer’s Group, the Romanian company of PSP Group, will lease two newly manufactured, interoperable LEMA Transmontana electric locomotives, which represent an investment of approximately EUR 6 million over an 8-year period. These new type locomotives, with their 6,000 kilowatt (kW) power, can haul a total train weight of up to 4,050 tons, which means 2,600-2,800 tons of useful goods on flat tracks. The locomotives can be used not only in Romania, but also in Hungary and Slovakia, the statement said.

Waberer’s operates a modern fleet of 2,800 trucks, 18 locomotives and over 1,000 railway wagons, as well as 160 buses, and manages a 275,000 square meter modern warehouse, thus having the largest logistics capacity in the region.

The sales revenue of the Waberer’s Group increased by 5 percent year-on-year in the first nine months of last year, to 602.8 million euros, and the company’s consolidated after-tax profit increased by 158.8 percent, to 32.1 million euros.

The company’s shares are listed in the premium category of the Budapest Stock Exchange, and over the past year the shares have traded between 4,020 and 5,820 forints.
