Red meat and game more popular among men than women

According to a survey by Gfk Hungária about culinary habits, poultry is the most popular form of meat among Hungarians, with pork in second place. Health conscious consumers prefer fish. There is a significant difference between sexes regarding the popularity of red meat and game which is more popular among men than women. Nine out of ten people like to eat poultry, while eight out of ten like pork. Fish is more popular than beef. Veal, game and lamb is significantly less popular. While 42 percent of men like game and 68 percent like beef, this is true for only 23 and 46 percent of women respectively. Meat is most popular in the 40-59 age group, regardless of the type. There is some correlation between the popularity of pork and the level of education, with popularity being lower among better educated consumers. Veal, lamb and game is popular in smaller households of one or two persons, while pork is especially popular in large households of 5 or more. 83 percent of the consumers interviewed said that they eat poultry at least once a week and 70 percent eats pork every week. Fish is consumed at least once a week by 17 percent of consumers, while this figure is 14 percent for beef.
