Volkswagen maintains its leading position in the European new car market
Volkswagen is the leading player in the European new car market this year with a share of more than 10 percent, and in Hungary it is firmly among the four most popular brands – the managing director of Porsche Hungaria, which imports Volkswagen Group vehicles, told reporters.
Tamás Wachtler attributes a major role in this to the fact that the manufacturer launched eight new models this year, and 65 percent of sales in Hungary were new models. The average age of the model range is one and a half years – he added.
According to his information,
8,083 VWs were sold in Hungary between January and November this year, which gives the brand a 7.4 percent market share, slightly below last year’s 8.2 percent.
Zoltán Papp, Volkswagen’s brand director, expects to sell 8,600 vehicles for the entire year. He highlighted that the brand’s current 17 models in the passenger car segment are available with internal combustion, hybrid and electric drives. According to him, 5 percent of sales are electric cars.
He indicated that the model update will continue next year, the range will be expanded, among other things, in the SUV segment, and the ID electric series will also grow.
Porsche Hungaria is the Hungarian importer of the German Volkswagen Group brands (Audi, SEAT, CUPRA, Skoda, Volkswagen, Volkswagen commercial vehicles, MOON electric car charging systems), and its used car business is Das WeltAuto.
A group of companies has been built up to support the car trade over the past 30 years, including, among others, the Porsche Financial Group, Porsche Real Estate Management, Europcar car rental and a logistics center for parts supply.
