Volkswagen Group increases car deliveries by 1.2 percent in the second quarter
German carmaker Volkswagen AG increased its vehicle deliveries by 1.2 percent to 2.271 million in the second quarter of this year.
According to data posted on VW’s website, deliveries to Central and Eastern Europe increased by 9.1 percent, South America by 19.8 percent, China by 2.8 percent, Asia-Pacific (excluding China) by 10.3 percent, and the Middle East and Africa by 14.4 percent. Meanwhile, deliveries in Western Europe decreased by 0.7 percent and in North America by 16.2 percent.
VW delivered 4.41 million vehicles in the first half of this year, 1.3 percent more than in the same period last year.
In the second quarter, the carmaker increased deliveries of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by 37.6 percent to 248,700, and in January-June by 46.7 percent to 465,500.
The share of electric vehicles in VW’s total deliveries in the first half of the year was 11 percent, compared to 7 percent a year earlier.
