The Business at OECD (BIAC) general meeting in Paris unanimously elected VOSZ Co-Chairman Dr. Patrik Kovács as a member of the Board. BIAC is the official economic advisory body of the OECD, whose members are the most significant business organizations of OECD countries, representing 65 percent of the world economy.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Patrik Kovács chaired the organization’s SME Committee for eight years, representing the interests of approximately 10 million enterprises in the OECD’s global policy-making processes. In this role, he led the preparation of several global research and policy recommendations to improve the global situation of SMEs, and in 2025 he became the first Hungarian to be included in the senior management of the B20, the official business forum of the G20, whose members produce 80 percent of global GDP.

As co-chair of the South African B20 Investment and Trade Working Group, he led the preparation of the package of recommendations that was submitted to the G20 leaders in order to protect the interests of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

Business at OECD is not only the official business advisory body of the OECD, but also plays an important role in the work of the G20/B20. It develops more than 140 policy recommendations for the OECD annually, a significant number of which have been incorporated into the economic policy practice of OECD member states. Its membership consists of 47 national business interest groups, and 69 other European and global industry-specific professional organizations also participate in its work. BIAC’s professional committees are managed by approximately 160 senior executives from large international companies, and it coordinates the opinions of nearly 3,000 business actors and experts each year.

In addition to VOSZ, BIAC’s leadership includes leaders of global companies and industry organizations such as Bayer, Telefónica, Walt Disney, PwC, Amazon, Meta, Rolls-Royce, Siemens, and UnitedHealth Group, the seventh largest company in the world.

Dr. Patrik Kovács’s role on the board opens up new opportunities for channeling the interests of Hungarian companies and the SME sector through VOSZ to the highest platforms of global policy, while also opening the door to international business opportunities.
