The world’s second largest LEGO factory was established in Nyíregyháza

With an investment of 54 billion forints, the world’s second largest LEGO factory has now been established in Nyíregyháza, and this is the company’s only plant in Europe in which all production processes are present – announced Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó on site on Tuesday.

According to the ministry’s statement, the minister announced at the opening of the LEGO factory that the Danish toy manufacturer had expanded its packaging and warehouse capacities by 54 billion forints, making the Nyíregyháza factory the second largest in the world. The government supported the development with 4.3 billion forints, thus contributing to the creation of 300 new jobs.

In his speech, he highlighted that the company, which is the largest employer in the region with 4,300 people, can now produce 30 percent more products in Hungary thanks to the developments.

He underlined that the company’s sales revenue in Nyíregyháza was over 100 billion forints last year, setting a new record, and next year the number of employees will reach five thousand, which is also a record.

He also mentioned that LEGO has been continuously is expanding its renewable energy sources, so currently 24 thousand solar panels support the factory’s operation, and their number will soon increase to 35 thousand.
