Managers recognize less the work of women in the technical-technological sector
Managers recognize the work of women in the technical-technological sector less, and the opinion of male colleagues also makes it difficult for them to advance – at least this is what the majority of respondents in a representative survey think. According to a significant part of the respondents, however, women in the profession can have a similar career and can earn as much as men.
The nationally representative research* carried out by the independent, integrated telecommunications infrastructure provider, CETIN Hungary Zrt., examined, among other things, what advantages men and women see in the technical and technological professions in general and women in particular, as well as what obstacles women face on the track.
As the advantages of the profession, the respondents indicated the high salary (55%) and the knowledge that can be used in the international market (49%), and they consider the field interesting (31%; the respondents could give more than one answer to each question). The two genders see these benefits differently: women prefer the salary (59% vs. 51%), while men consider internationalization (52% vs. 46%) and interestingness (34% vs. 27%) more important. At the same time, there is no significant difference between men and women in their assessment of employment opportunities (27%), the social usefulness of the area (19%) or a quick career (18%).
