The Competition Authority fined Normaflore’s distributor 105 million forints
Opella Healthcare Commercial Kft., which distributes Normaflore preparations, did not present two of its products in accordance with the approved application instructions, and the Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) imposed a fine of 105 million forints on the company due to the violation.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the competition authority initiated competition supervision proceedings against the company in February last year. The investigation revealed that between September 1, 2024 and January 6, 2025, the company made claims that went beyond the product specifications when promoting Normaflore oral suspension and Normaflore extra 4 billion/5 ml oral suspension.
The GVH determined that the company committed a violation of the law with these claims because it did not present the Normaflore products based on the authorized specifications, which is why the fine was imposed.
In its announcement, the Competition Authority drew the attention of companies to the fact that when advertising over-the-counter medicines, they may only make claims that fully comply with the authorized specifications. regulations.
The national competition authority pays special attention to the market for over-the-counter medicines, and recently initiated two competition supervision proceedings on suspicion of restriction of competition and abuse of dominant position – the GVH reminded.
