Consumer sentiment in the United States decreased less than expected in March
Consumers’ sentiment in the United States in March decreased less than expected, according to a routine monthly survey by the University of Michigan.
According to preliminary data released on Friday, the consumer sentiment index weakened to 95.9 from 101 in February. Analysts expected a more worsening index of 95 points in March.
Of the sub-indices, the consumer expectations indicator for the next six months fell from 92.1 points to 85.3 points, while the value of the sub-index reflecting the current situation weakened from 114.8 points to 112.5 points.
The one-year inflation expectations changed to 2.3 percent from 2.4 percent in February, while the five-year inflation expectations remained at 2.3 percent. (MTI)
