Business sentiment in Germany improved more than expected in May
In May, business sentiment in Germany improved better than analysts expected, according to a recent survey by the ifo Institute for Economic Research at the University of Munich.
According to the data of ifo, the May Sentiment Index rose to 79.5 points from 74.2 points in April.
Experts expected a less improving indicator, 78.3 points, for May.
The overall index for May was strengthened by a sub-index indicating the outlook for the next few months: this index rose to 80.1 points from 69.4 points in April.
The sub-index, which indicates the current situation, meanwhile, fell from 79.4 points in April to 78.9 points. (MTI)
