One purchases cheap food because of the crisis
The total turnover of the own branded products of the supermarket chains reached more than 165 billion HUF in the first six months of 2009 – states Nielsen market research company's survey.
The retail trade turnover of own branded foods increased by 14 percent and the turnover of cosmetics and household chemicals increased by 18 percent, compared to the same period of 2008. The awareness and acceptance of the own branded products continued to increase in Hungary. A part of the consumers maintain their consumption with buying cheaper products, and visiting shops, that are offering a lower price level response.
