It was already prominent last year, and this year there was hardly a single submission that did not deal with the application possibilities of artificial intelligence (AI) among the contents nominated for the Siemens Media Award. This trend clearly reflects the explosive growth of AI in almost all areas of life. The submitted articles, videos and podcasts covered many segments, from education to agriculture, from humanoid robots to religion, but the most frequently discussed topic was clearly the healthcare, diagnostic and healing potential of AI.

The Hungarian press award ceremony was held on the evening of April 2nd, where the work of journalists and content creators who create at a particularly high level in the field of technology was recognized. Once again, it was possible to nominate media materials published between March 1, 2025 and February 28, 2026 that show how technology helps sustainability or the development of the economy and society. This year, the winner of the international company’s annual press award will be selected from representatives from 11 countries: in addition to Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia announced the competition.

This year, a total of 37 entries were received from 19 entrants, which were again evaluated by an independent professional jury: Gyöngyi Sági, owner and editor-in-chief of digitrendi.hu; Enikő Vass, communications specialist; Péter Szigeti, content development and media specialist, and Márk Arató, communications manager at Siemens Zrt. The jury members scored the content based on the relevance, novelty, style and the value added to the topic by the author, which formed the final ranking.

The main prize was awarded to Dániel Bolcsó (Telex.hu) for “I Retaliated Against Jesus” c. won for her work, which explored the role of AI avatars and chatbots in the fields of faith and religion, while presenting issues that raise serious moral dilemmas with the necessary humor and sensitivity, in an easily digestible format.

The other two Media Award recognitions went to entries introducing pioneering domestic projects. Judit Kis (Forbes) won for her work Revolution in bridge inspection: a team from BME protects infrastructure with artificial intelligence” In his article, he presented his solution BridgeAid, which monitors the load capacity and condition of bridges that play a key role in the road network, as well as the traffic passing through them, more precisely than ever before.

Balázs Rádi (Index.hu) and the “Index in the operating room: they operated for the first time In his article “Spine surgery with a robot in Hungary,” he prepared an on-site report on the use of a brand-new robotic technology in Hungary that maximizes patient safety and relieves doctors of significant radiation exposure, demonstrating how artificial intelligence maps the human body “like a video game” and makes surgical interventions more precise than ever before.

In addition, the jury selected Csaba Gyetván for his article “This is how used tires are recycled” awarded a special video award for its report, which brought this topic, which is of particular importance in terms of sustainability, closer to the general public with its unique tone and directness.

The award-winning articles also advanced to the Siemens regional competition, where they will be compared with the press award winners from other countries by an international jury. The top five entrants from the region selected in this way will be invited to the international award ceremony on May 22, 2026, which will be hosted in Budapest for the first time this year. The winner will be announced here, and will receive a ticket for two and hotel accommodation for the Salzburg Festival.
