Corporate volunteership is not popular in Eastern-Central Europe

Ranking of responsible business operation evaluates for the second time transparency and communicated CSR performance of largest companies of the CEE region.

CSR 24/7 Rating is a CSR rating product developed by B&P Braun & Partners to assess demonstrated CSR performance of companies based on publicly available information accessible in local language to all stakeholders. Rating methodology is based on Accountability standards, GRI indicators, and principles of UN Global Compact.

Methodology is based on 7 domains including transparency and communication; corporate governance; stakeholder relations; environmental responsibility; economic responsibility; society; human resources.

The regional CSR 24/7 Top100 list (CEE-100) published by B&P Braun & Partners contains Top25 companies by revenue of following countries, including the three largest commercial banks and two largest insurance institutions: Austria, Hungary, Poland, and Romania.

Austrian oil company “OMV AG” was ranked first among the CEE-100 companies and among Austrian firms, of course, with a score of 90%, followed by “Magyar Telekom” (88%), leader of the Hungarian list. Best results were achieved by oil companies in Poland and Romania (“PGNiG S.A.” – 69%, “OMV Petrom S.A.” – 69%, respectively), ensuring rank 12 and 13 of the regional list.

Results show leading position of Hungarian companies (with an average company performance of 43%), followed by Austrian (40%) and Polish firms (30%) while Romanian companies are in the first phase of developing more socially and environmentally responsible operation (with Top25 country average of 21%). In comparison to last year’s results, Hungarian average increased by 10 percentage points, while Polish and Romanian average performance by 4 percentage points. Austrian companies were evaluated for the first time this year.
