Shower gel improving it position in the top 5
Retail sales of shower gel were up by 5 percent in terms of value in the March 2008-February 2009 period, compared to the preceding year, with sales exceeding HUF 14 billion. Sales were up by 3 percent in terms of quantity. Shower gel was the 5th largest among the 60 chemical categories monitored by Nielsen. The market shares of the 251-400 ml and 750+ ml segments both increased by 1 percent. Larger than 2,500 square meter stores accounted for over 50 percent of total sales, while drugstores had a market share of 21 percent. The market shares of both 2,500+ and 401-2,500 square meter stores rose by 1 percent at the expense of smaller retail units. Private labels have been increasing their market share for years, reaching 25 percent in January 2009.
