The name Tokaji is also included in a bilateral agreement between the European Union and China on the protection of geographical indications containing one hundred European and one hundred Chinese products, which aims to protect listed goods against imitation and abuse – the European Commission announced on Wednesday.
The EU list of protected geographical indications under the agreement includes, in addition to Tokaji, products such as Champagne, Feta cheese, Irish whiskey, Münchener Bier, Ouzo, Polska Wódka, Porto, Prosciutto di Parma and Queso Manchego. Chinese products include Pixian Dou-Ban (Pihsien bean pulp), Anji Bai Cha (Ancsi white tea), Panjin Da Mi (Panjin rice) and Anqiu Di Jiang (Ancsiu ginger). (MTI)
