Egg producers can be satisfied
The Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) continuously monitors and publishes world trends in poultry and fruit/vegetable products. Their last report reveals that in the first two months the volume of broiler chicken bought from breeders improved by 3 percent from last year – though breeders earned 2 percent less. Poultry meat sales were up by 13 percent in the same period. Egg sales were down 4 percent, but egg producers got 9 percent more for their products. Slaughter cattle’s production price was HUF 481 per kilogram (up 3 percent), while slaughter pig’s production price was 11 percent lower than a year earlier at HUF 340.
