Most people would prefer free Internet content
80 percent of Internet users would like free access to Internet contents; one third want free content without advertisements, but the majority would tolerate advertisements if access was free. In Hungary, the majority of people want free contents without advertisements: only 7 percent of Hungarians would be willing to pay for internet contents – according to a survey (conducted in 16 European countries and the US) commissioned by Wall Street Journal Europe from GfK Custom Research and GfK Association. It showed that 13 percent of users would pay for Internet contents (8 percent for advertisement-free and 5 percent even if advertisements would appear). Web 2.0 applications like Facebook or Twitter are visited by every fourth user – in Hungary 29 percent of users visit networking sites regularly.
