Tesco publishes its Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Report
This is the fourth time Tesco has transparently outlined what it is doing to be a truly inclusive workplace. The company aims to create a single ecosystem that connects its diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion commitments for systemic change. The report also includes the results of the past year and the key pillars of Tesco’s new three-year DEI strategy.
Over the past four years, the supermarket chain has made great progress in creating an inclusive and supportive work environment, and this is supported by feedback from colleagues and independent recognition. Nearly 90 per cent of Tesco employees feel that they can be themselves at the company and are welcome on the team, while the company’s initiative against menstrual poverty and its programs supporting community well-being and inclusion have won several awards.
“At Tesco, people are at the heart of everything we do, whether they are our colleagues, customers or suppliers. In Hungary, the company has nearly 8,300 active employees, and we are proud of each of their unique values. Our main goal is to create an environment where everyone is welcome and where everyone can be themselves every day. We are pleased to see that, according to our internal survey, 87 percent of our colleagues now feel accepted, recognized and valued at Tesco. Our recently published Diversity, Equal Opportunities and Inclusion Report 2024 summarizes our achievements in this area well over the past year and also shows where we need to do more to improve. This is the fourth year that we have voluntarily published our report, which also includes data on the gender pay gap, and this time we are also presenting our new strategy, which will enable diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion to become an even more integral part of our everyday operations,”
said Norbert Túróczi, Head of HR at Tesco-Global Zrt.
