The new generation of natural sweeteners: stevia, agave syrup, xylitol and others
Sweet taste always played a major role in the diet. Originally sweeteners were extracted from plants, later honey was used for sweetening, then the 6th and 7th century, the sugar production has begun and sugar use became widespread.
In the 20th century substitutes for sugar occurred with a nearly same energy value, but they absorb more slowly and has low blood sugar-raising effect.
Now, alternative and natural sweeteners are gaining pace in the cuisine of the world, such as stevia, agave syrup and xylitol.
