Dairy Product Council: the dairy sector needs 40-50 billion HUF
The EU milk quota system that was established 31 years ago will be terminated within a few days. From 1 April, only the possibilities and the capabilities of the Member States will impose limits on the production – the mno.hu wrote.
Harcz Zoltán, executive director of the Dairy Product Council and Interprofessional Organization told that the termination of the administrative production limit will not directly affect Hungary, because Hungary was always performing under the quota. However, indirect effects can be expected, because there are a number of Member States in the Union, that have already reached or exceeded their quota. Over the past year, the production of the union increased by 4-6 percent and further expansion is expected in the coming years. (Köpöncei Csilla, Magyar Nemzet Online)
