Talent knows no borders: S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy launches new webinar series to promote gender equality in gastronomy
Embracing and supporting the next generation of talented young chefs has been an important part of the spirit of the inspiring community created by S.Pellegrino, the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy, from the very beginning. In connection with this, the leading mineral water brand created a digital forum called “Creating gender balance in kitchens”, which aims to draw attention to the issue of gender balance in the food industry.
In four episodes available on the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy website, the webinar series examines different aspects of gender inequality, while also offering possible solutions to the problem. The video series shows, among other things, how women are represented in the industry today, where gender inequality comes from, but also discusses why change is needed or how we can create an inclusive environment in restaurants.
In addition to moderator Tom Jenkins, journalist and SPYCA spokesperson, Maria Canabal, award-winning journalist, founder and president of the Parabere Forum, participated in the discussion on creating a fairer and more inclusive sector; Vicky Lau, owner of the two-Michelin-starred Tate Dining Room and Mora restaurant in Hong Kong; Cristina Bowerman, Rome’s only female chef who not only runs a Michelin-starred restaurant at Glass Hostaria, but also won three villas from Gambero Rosso; and Nicolai Nørregaard, chef and co-owner of Michelin-starred Kadeau restaurants in Bornholm and Copenhagen, Denmark.
