In the European Union, there is an increasingly strong regulatory focus on equal opportunities in the labor market: the Pay Transparency Directive and the women’s quota rules both aim to reduce gender gaps. However, the legal frameworks alone do not solve the structural obstacles facing career starters – especially in the case of those who are already disadvantaged for social, social or health reasons. In response, Waberer’s launched the “Women’s Relay” program, which helps seven talented young women enter the labor market with professional, relationship and practical support.

Seven young female university graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds are being helped to enter the labor market by a new initiative from Waberer’s, which supports career starters with professional mentoring, relationship building opportunities and practical preparation. The program was presented at the company’s third annual Waberer’s Women Business Brunch.

The initiative is unique in that Waberer’s not only treated the event as its own corporate program, but also actively involved its partners and clients in the support. The female leaders and decision-makers participating in the event met the young people in person, talked to them, and offered them mentoring, networking, and professional support opportunities.

The program was implemented in cooperation with Széchenyi István University and the HBLF-Romaster Foundation. Among the seven supported young people are career starters who, despite their talent and ambitions, are starting their careers with fewer resources, a narrower network of contacts, or from a more difficult life situation. The initiative aims to provide not only recognition but also a real opportunity to start a career alongside a diploma.

Waberer’s experience shows that the difficulties of young people entering the job market are often not solely due to a lack of professional knowledge. Access to network capital, authentic feedback, mentoring and self-assertion are at least as important factors. This year’s Women Business Brunch was therefore structured to provide a practical response to these often invisible, yet decisive gaps.

As part of the program, the young people also received a so-called Starter Kit package, but the support is about much more than that: the initiative aims to initiate long-term professional connections, create personalized mentoring opportunities and strengthen the self-confidence necessary for entering the job market.

“Labor market equality is not only a regulatory issue. Companies’ responsibility is also reflected in the concrete opportunities they create for talented young people who start out with fewer resources. With the Women’s Relay program, we want to show that support is truly valuable when it creates tangible opportunities”

– said Katalin Fészki-Fehér, HR Director at Waberer’s.

According to Waberer’s, the message of the program goes beyond a one-off Women’s Day initiative. The competitiveness of the future labor market also depends on how well companies can recognize and support those talents who do not start out with equal opportunities. Supporting the seven young women is both a social responsibility and a long-term investment in the professionals of the future.

The March 5 event not only created a meeting point for female business players, but also presented a collaboration model in which companies, partners, educational players and civil society organizations work together to turn talent into a real opportunity.
