Similar to last year's average corn yield is expected in Békés county
An average of 6 to 6.5 tons per hectare yield of corn is expected this year in Békés county – said Varjú Mónika, leader of the Agriculture Directorate of the Békés County Government Office to MTI on Thursday.
She told that farmers this year produce corn on 10 thousand hectares more area, on 100 thousand hectares. The heat and the lack of rainfall in this year's August accelerated the ripening of the corn grain, while the lower moisture content of maize helps the harvest too – reports MTI.
