The future belongs to farmers who can learn, change and cooperate
The farming community can only ensure the prosperity of its family and the Hungarians who have been living and producing and farming here for centuries, said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy at the XI. Marosszéki Farm Day, Székelyföld Mezőpanit.
The head of the ministry pointed out that it has been proven several times in the past centuries that farmers who are able to learn, change and cooperate were able to emerge victorious from difficult situations. This is the common road that must be traveled together, on which they can reach the furthest together. What the farmers agree on is the minister’s position. The more farmers add their strength, thoughts, and intentions, the further we can get on this road, he pointed out. He emphasized that the goal of the Hungarian Government’s national policy is to promote the growth and prosperity of Hungarians living abroad in their homeland. In accordance with this, the Ministry of Agriculture launched the Carpathian Basin Farmers Program, which has been operating for four years now and helps farmers throughout the region. Currently, they are able to provide the employment of 112 foreign village farmer consultants. The goal of the Schams Ferenc Plan, announced by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2022, is to restore the historic wine regions of the Carpathian Basin to their former glory and reputation.
István Nagy welcomed the fact that in Székelyföld more and more producer collaborations are being established and are operating successfully. He stated that the way of the future is the establishment of producer collaborations: on the one hand, it organizes individual producer capacities, and on the other hand, it is able to demonstrate adequate bargaining power on the market. The minister thanked the farmers for their work and donations, with which they contributed to the Bread of Hungarians – 15 million grains of wheat and Tarisznyája Székely Szívek programs.
