The Suez ship accident is profoundly slowing down world trade
One of the world’s largest cargo ships, the Ever Given, crossed and ran aground on the Suez Canal. As Ever Given closes the road completely, more and more commercial cargo ships are congested at the two exits of the canal, which will greatly slow down traffic and not incidentally world trade, the Index writes after New York Post.
As a result, there may be a shortage of toilet paper that we have not seen since the first days of the coronavirus pandemic.
Walter Schalka, CEO of Brazil’s Suzano SA, the world’s third-largest wood flour company, said they were having serious trouble transporting the toilet paper feedstock. (index, Kovács Ferenc)
