Green harvesting application was submitted for only less than 8 percent of the vineyards
Grape producers applied for a grape and wine surplus market claim until 11 June to the Hungarian State Treasury (MÁK), for less than 8 percent of the vineyards for about 5,200 hectares – the National Council of Mountain Communities (HNT) told MTI.
HNT recalls that according to a market study of the International Organization of Vine and Wine last year, 46 million hectoliters more wines were made in 2018 than consumed all over the world. Nearly 18 percent of wine production – as a production surplus – creates a fierce competitive situation that also affects the Hungarian harvesting and grape sales in 2019 as well. (MTI)
