The Slovakian Parliament authorizes the Tokaj name
In the Slovakian part of the Tokaj wine region, the Tokaj name can be used again, from the 1st of June – decided the parliament in Pozsony on Tuesday.
Last year’s law of the Slovak viticulture and wine changed the Tokaj Region name to Tokaj Wine Area, which led that Slovakian Tokaj name could not be used on Slovakian Tokaj wines only the Tokajsky, Tokajská Tokajské or descriptions.
The Slovak-Hungarian dispute over the Tokaj brand name is still continuing. Zsolt Simon, former Slovak Minister for Agriculture has warned the government last December, to change the wine law, beacause it does not protect the Slovakian Tokaj region. According to observers the debate will be continued – reports Origo.
