Contractual agricultural water applicants receive the required quantity
The water directorates are still able to meet contractual agricultural water needs, the National Water Directorate General told MTI on Friday.
The OVF points out: in the first seven months of the year, the amount of water actually supplied as part of the agricultural water service far exceeded that experienced in previous years. In 2020 until August, the amount of water served was 58 percent of all needs, in 2021 it was 64 percent, based on the amount calculated taking into account the estimated needs, this year this value is already 86 percent, they explained.
As the summer progresses, less and less water will be needed
It was indicated: as the end of summer approaches, the released water volumes already show a decreasing trend compared to the previous months, and farmers continue to take advantage of the possibility of requesting extraordinary water use. Water directorates issue new permits taking into account the available water resources, keeping in mind that the interests of contractual water users are not harmed. In the country, 11 of the 12 water management directorates have a level of preparedness for protection against water shortages, in 7 water shortage management districts it is level I, in 5 water shortage management districts it is level II. degree, and in 25 water shortage management districts III. preparedness to protect against water shortages has been ordered – informed the National Directorate General of Water.
