Waberer’s Group acquires a dominant player in the Serbian distribution market
The Waberer’s Group has decided to acquire the majority, 55 percent share of MD International, a major player in the Serbian distribution market. MDI’s main activities include distribution, road transport and warehousing, so it fits well into the portfolio of the Hungarian logistics giant, and at the same time effectively supports Waberer’s strategic goal of becoming the region’s market-leading complex logistics service provider.
Waberer’s Group buys a 55 percent majority stake in MD International (MDI), a key player in the Serbian FMCG distribution market, and at the same time acquires an option to purchase the remaining 45 percent stake. The main activities of MDI are domestic distribution, road transport and storage. The Serbian company’s sales revenue in 2022 was 50.3 million euros, its EBIT was 2.1 million euros, while its profit after tax was 1.7 million euros. The transaction will be financed by Waberer’s from the bond issued in 2022, in line with the goals set when the bond was issued. The parties treat the purchase price as a business secret. Pursuant to the contract on the transaction, the owners of Waberer’s and MDI have agreed to cooperate in further developments and investments, among which the planned common warehouse development stands out, which can be the basis for further growth and an even more efficient logistics operation.
