HUF 1.4 billion will be spent on the sustainable water management of the Szent László stream
After the completion of the project called the rehabilitation of the Szent László stream, the arrangement of the water flow under the title of sustainable water management of the Szent László stream will continue, for the latter 1.4 billion forints of EU and domestic resources will be used – the Central Transdanubian Water Administration informed MTI on Thursday.
According to their announcement, with the support received in the Environmental and Energy Efficiency Operational Program (Kehop), in order to increase the security of the agricultural water supply, investments will be made that improve the technical conditions for meeting current and new water needs. They reminded that the full-scale development of the Szent László stream was last realized between 1985-1988, this time the works are being carried out in the consortium of the National Directorate General of Water and the Central Transdanubian Water Directorate. In the course of the project, the renovation of the structures in poor condition (dams, sluices) and the review of the working order of the structures will be carried out, thereby improving the conditions of water resource regulation. After the bed arrangement, the vegetation accompanying the bed is planted, which can be used to reduce erosion from agriculture, the leaching of nutrients and plant protection agents, and also helps to reduce evaporation by shading the water area.
In addition to riverbed management and reconstruction works, water management structures and a water shortage monitoring station will be established in the catchment area. Construction works are currently taking place in parallel at several locations, and the project is expected to be completed at the end of March.
