Tesco fights food waste by taking out the best before date label
Tesco has made an unusual decision: in the UK stores, they will take out a best before date label from about 70 pre-packaged products, mainly from fruit and vegetable commodities – the BBC wrote. The reason for this decision is that the company thinks it can reduce the amount of food waste.
The research of the National Federation of Women’s Institutes found that less than half of consumers are aware of the difference between “best before date” and “use by” concepts. At the British department stores, this has led to the conclusion that less food should be thrown away if the source of disruption to be terminated. (origo)
